Rev. Msgr. Herbert Tillyer, Pastor

Father Herb has been our pastor since 1994. He was ordained in May 1968 after attending the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington, NJ.

Father Herb began at St. Virgil's in Morris Plains, then he taught religion and guidance at Paterson Catholic High School. Before coming to us he was pastor at Saint Paul's in Prospect Park.

Father Herb has served the Diocese of Paterson since 1974, first as vice chancellor then as chancellor for over 20 years. He currently serves as vicar general. In addition, Father Herb is the president of several housing projects in the diocese.

Rev. Lawrence Richard Hardy, Parochial Vicar

Father Rick was ordained on May 27, 2006 at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral, Paterson, New Jersey.

Before entering the Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora New York, Father Rick spent 27 years in the management consulting industry. He is a widower with two grown sons and a grandfather to two year old Caroline.

Father Rick is happy to be assigned to Saint Peter's after serving as a transitional deacon here for the past six months. He is an avid skier and is a decent (mediocre) tennis player.

Father William Santeliz, Parochial Vicar
Father William was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela.  He was ordained to the priesthood on May 26, 2007 at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral in Paterson, New Jersey.

Father William heard God’s call the priesthood since childhood.  At age 17, he entered Saint Tomas Aquinas Seminary, in Venezuela we he completed his philosophy studies, obtaining a Master’s degree in Education.  Father William came to the United States 12 years ago to study at Seton Hall University in South Orange.  After he completed two years of Theology, he traveled throughout the United States and Europe as a Lay Missionary.   He returned to the Seminary at Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Orchard Lake, Michigan, we he completed his studies for the priesthood.

Father William loves to swim, play tennis, visit museums and read good books.

Sr. Sylvia Berzinski, S.S.C., Pastoral Associate

Sister Sylvia entered religious life on September 3, 1950 at Villa Walsh in Morristown. She has been at St. Peter's since September, 1984.

Sister Sylvia attended Seton Hall University for a degree in secondary education and she was an elementary and secondary school teacher. Prior to joining St. Peter's, she was an elementary school principal for 15 years in Passaic County.

Sister Sylvia was a founding member, in 1975, of the Sisters of the Church.

Rev. Mr. Lou Chiocco, Deacon

Deacon Lou was ordained a permanent Deacon in May 2003; his ministry is focused on Pre-Cana and Baptismal prep.

Deacon Lou is married to Carol. They are celebrating 42 years of marriage in October. Lou and Carol have been members of the parish since 1968. They have 5 children ranging in age from 39 to 25 years of age; all are graduates of St. Peter the Apostle School.

Lou and Carol have been involved in parish ministries for many years, serving as Lectors and Ministers of Holy Communion, as well as working on the diocesan level as team members in Marriage Encounter and Natural Family Planning.

Rev. Mr. Bob Lang, Deacon

Deacon Bob was ordained a permanent Deacon in May 1991; originally served St. Rose of Lima in E. Hanover moving over to St.Peter’s in April of 2007. Deacon Bob was an engineering manager for over 30 years. Semi-retired, married for 43 years to Judy and the father of three with 14 grandchildren.

Deacon Bob has been involved in all aspects of the deaconate ministry, he was a prayer group leader and is working part time for a pro-life ministry called LIFENET for the past eight years. Deacon Bob is a pro-life speaker on all aspects of respect life including abortion, living a chaste life, stem cell research, pornography, and the end of life issues.

Paul Kusler, Director of Music

A native of Pittsburgh, PA., Paul studied in the Sacred Music Program at Duquesne University. Paul joined our parish staff in March 2004, and directs our five parish choirs which include the Adult Choir, Children's Choir, Sunday Night Teen Choir, Adult Handbell Choir, Children's Choir, and the Parish Cantors.

Paul is also actively involved with the Diocese of Paterson Worship Office. He is the director of the Diocesan Choir which sings for the Diocesan Episcopal Liturgies at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral in Paterson. Paul is also the Chapter Director of NPM (National Association of Pastoral Musicians) for the diocese, and also a member of AGO (American Guild of Organists).

Sara is a graduate of New Jersey City University, and has a B.S. in Accounting.

Sara has been a member of Saint Peter's for 17 years. She and her husband Andy, have been married for the past 24 years and have three daughters.

Sara has been a part of the staff for 7 years, and works with both the parish and school. She is a greeter at the 7:00 PM Sunday Liturgy, and also serves as a Minister of the Eucharist. Sara is also the coordinator of the parish food pantry.
